You can find a saved Wi-Fi password on iPhone or iPad in Settings. This works for the network you're on now and for networks you've joined before. On iOS 18 you can also use the Passwords app.
The Settings method needs iOS 16, iPadOS 16.1 or later, according to Apple's support article on saved Wi-Fi passwords. You confirm with your passcode, Face ID or Touch ID, and then you can see and copy the password.
See the password for the network you're on now
- Open Settings and tap Wi-Fi.
- Find the network you're currently using.
- Tap the Info (i) button next to it.
- Tap the Password field.
- Unlock with your passcode, Face ID or Touch ID. The password appears.
Find the password for a network you joined before
Networks you joined in the past use a different entry point: you tap Edit first.
- Open Settings and tap Wi-Fi.
- Tap Edit in the top-right corner.
- Authenticate with your passcode, Face ID or Touch ID. This unlocks the list of networks your device has joined before.
- Tap the Info button next to a network that has a lock icon.
- Tap the Password field to reveal it.
Use the Passwords app on iOS 18
In iOS 18, you can also use the Passwords app. Apple says you can use it to "find, copy and share" passwords for networks you joined before.
Share the password with a nearby Apple device
Apple has a separate guide to sharing your Wi-Fi password from an iPhone or iPad that covers sending it to a nearby device.
When the share prompt doesn't appear
If the prompt never shows up, fall back on the manual route: look up the password with the steps above and have the other person type it in.
